ASSIGNMENT 1

a. My Best Piece of Creative Work

This creative work was something I did during my Design Foundation course. It is an abstract 3D exploration of Italian Futurism. I was inspiration by a painting titled "State of Mind: Those Who Go" by Umberto Boccioni (1912). I felt that this was my best piece of creative work because I was able to create something unique and different while still representing the idea of Italian Futurism, which had an emphasis on speed, technology and movement. This piece was also quite challenging and time consuming to create, hence why I felt a certain amount of accomplishment once it was finished.

b. A Great Piece of Architecture

The Basílica de la Sagrada Família in my opinion is one of the greatest piece of architecture in the world. First of all, it's huge, it's a lot bigger and grander in person. It is also initially designed by one of the greatest architects in the world, Antonio Gaudi, but sadly he never got to see his finished masterpiece because he passed away when the construction of this was only a quarter done, it wasn't even done when I visited last year (2019). The slow construction was mostly due to a series of unfortunate events such as the Spanish civil war. When I visited, I was so excited to see all the intricate details up-close and it didn't disappoint. A lot of the design of the Basílica was representative of things from the bible, it was also covered in carvings of stories related to the bible, which was amazing.

This pair of heels called the 'Eden Pumps' were designed by the brand, Ralph & Russo. A London based company owned and founded by Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo. Ever since I've laid eyes on these 4 years ago while scrolling through Pinterest, I can't get over how unique they are. It's a modest normal looking pointy toed heel from the front but from the back, it just takes your breath away. It's like wearing a piece of art on your feet. It's absolutely beautiful and I dream of having a pair (or two) of these sitting in my wardrobe.
